Not a lot going on...

One ride up in lordswood, nice and fast but the creak creak creak is back so i think im going to have to do some proper maintenance. I got hopelessly lost too at one point, which was a bit freaky and spooky. There were deer everywhere.

This weekend was planning to get out on the kona, but never managed anything other than riding to the pub and around the beach. Decided it needs a 20t cog at the back (well a 19 really but aside from WI i cant find one), oh and i need to sort the rear wheel dishing out so i can get the v-brake to work properly.

Upshot of all this non-activity is that im tired, i still havn't found anywhere to live, both bikes are great, yet annoying me and i seem to be turning into jabba...

Lordswoodadoodah

Testing the marin with a nice dry dusty spin around lordswood. Didnt get completely lost (for once) and had a nice fast short blast. The bike is ace, especially a large application of GT85 to stop the pivots creaking - rear disc pads still rattle like a bastard though. Just flies round everything and if you do get it a bit wrong, the rear end just sucks it up and saves your arse.

Got up to 28mph in the woods themselves which is quite cool :-) On the way back got into a nice bit of rhythm: Pedal, pedal, whoosh round the corner, shimmy the bars through a gap, pedal pedal, shimmy, whoosh whhosh, duck under tree branch, shimmy through trees, pedal pedal, whoosh round a corner BANG!

Once my head had recentred itself i realised i'd forgotten to duck :-) So glad i had my lid on. Took my (brand new) Zen off to see the damage expecting it to be knackered - not even a scratch - my head echoed for a few secs though :-)

Downsides were seeing how many utter tosspots let their dogs shit in the woods, clean it up but think its ok to leave the bags lying round, oh and the usual piece of flytipping.

I dont care though its a sunny evening :-)

New Forest

Easy but nice 20 mile ride round new forest with some guys from Southampton who dont ride bikes. Got some Hardrocks on hire (in the usual wrong sizes). I was so glad i had my inbred :-)

Beautiful weather though, and nice to just relax on the bike in the sun and have a day out having a laugh. Need to get some techy trails soon though, missing out.

Nice 20 miler yesterday with Simon round one of the loops that Hants Council give you which is a surpringly nice ride - not exactly technical or too strenuous but few hard-ish climbs, few good descents and lots of nice views. its really off how group rides seem to be far less strenuous than riding on your own

No pics im afraid on this loop as i didnt have a camera with me (only my phone) there wasnt much to photograph anyway

Should ride nice, built up with all the inbred parts in a relaxed trail style, but still be small enough to throw about a bit when the need arises.

Oh and the full sus bug is catching - Tom went straight out and bought a 15" Coiler as he doesnt want to be the only person with a numb arse at Afan and The Quantocks this year. bah, bloody sheep :-)

nice morning though :-)

Way back was much nicer as it was a bit warmer. having an artic overtake you at about 60mph with only a few feet between you is an interesting experience.

Lots of haribo made the journey much more enjoyable :-)
